Education

Beatriz Ferrer obtained her BSc in Chemistry in 2022 from the University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU). Her Bachelor thesis was conducted within the Analytical Chemistry Department, where she focused on investigating the metal content in urban sediments using ICP-MS. This research aimed to support the future implementation of Sustainable Urban Drainage Systems (SUDS).
She completed a six-month internship at Polymat, in the Catalysis and Sustainable Polymers Group, under the supervision of Prof. Haritz Sardon. and Dr. Marta Ximenis. During this period, she worked on the ring-opening polymerization (ROP) of lactones, investigating their potential biological activity.
In 2024, she completed a Master's degree in Chemistry and Polymers from UPV/EHU. Her Master's Thesis (TFM), again supervised by Prof. Haritz Sardon. and Dr. Marta Ximenis, focused on innovative strategies for polymer synthesis. Specifically, her research combined biobased raw materials with improved catalytic methods to achieve more sustainable and efficient polymer synthesis.

Research

Currently, she is doing her Ph.D. in collaboration with Elix Polymers and under the supervision of Prof. Haritz Sardon and Dr. Marta Ximenis. Her research is focused on creating a low-temperature solvent-assisted process for the selective decrosslinking of PB blends.
