Education

Claudia Azabal holds a Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry from Universidad de Valladolid, where her research career began through an Erasmus stay at Ghent University. There, she was first introduced to nanochemistry and advanced materials, sparking a lasting interest in materials science and its applications in the energy field.

Her Bachelor's Thesis, carried out within the framework of a Collaboration Grant from the Spanish Ministry of Education at the CINQUIMA Institute (Universidad de Valladolid) in the GIR Catálisis y Polímeros, focused on the synthesis of copper(I) complexes with bipyridine-based ligands for catalytic CO₂ reduction.

In 2025, she obtained her MSc in New Materials from the University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU). Her Master Thesis involved the development of an enzymatic biofuel cell based on glucose oxidase and laccase, carried out in collaboration with TECNALIA.

Research

These experiences have shaped her strong interest in research at the intersection of materials science and energy technologies. She is now committed to continuing this path through a PhD.
