Education

Idoia Alayeto Martínez received her bachelor’s degree in Chemistry in 2020 from the University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU). Her final degree project consisted of studying the morphology and physico-chemical properties of a photopolymerized polymer blend.

In 2021, she received her master’s degree in Biomaterials from the Complutense University of Madrid. She completed her master thesis in The Bioactive Nanostructured Materials (MatNaBio) Group within a project focused on the development of drug-loaded poly(lactic acid)-based electrospun nanofibers as drug delivery systems.

After that, she continued her research in the same group working within a project involving optically active nanoparticles for biomedical applications.

In March 2024, she has started her PhD studies in “Engineering of Materials and Sustainable Processes” at the University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU).

Research

Idoia Alayeto Martínez is currently working on a PhD research project within the Group in Science and Engineering of Polymeric Biomaterials (ZIBIO Group) under the supervision of Dr. Ainhoa Lejardi Meavebasterrechea and Dr. Emiliano Meaurio Arrate.

The research project is focused on the development of bioresorbable copolymers with modulated surface roughness and topography as a strategy to prevent neuroinflammation after biomaterial implantation.
