Education

Marta Ximenis earned her BSc in Chemistry from the University of the Balearic Islands in 2013. She obtained her Master's degree in Organic Chemistry in 2014 from the University Complutense of Madrid. Then, she returned to the University of the Balearic Islands where she earned her PhD in 2019 under the supervision of Prof. Costa. During this time, she developed squaramide-based self-immolative spacers for drug delivery applications.

In 2020 she moved to Japan and joined Prof. Uemura laboratories at the University of Tokyo. She worked there for two years on the synthesis of 2D polymer networks using Metal-Organic Frameworks as template nanoreactors.

Research

From January 2022 she is working as a Postdoctoral Margarita Salas Fellow at POLYMAT in the group of Dr. Haritz Sardon. Her research interest focus on the chemical recycling of polymers using organocatalysis.
