Education

Dr. Giuliana Mosconi earned her B.Sc. in Pharmacy from the National University of Cordoba, Argentina. During this time, she gained experience as a research assistant intern, contributing to several projects investigating the fungal biotransformation process to obtain new molecules of pharmaceutical interest and identifying novel molecules derived from extracts from native plants of Cordoba.
She completed her Ph.D. in Biological Sciences at the National University of Córdoba (Argentina) in 2021. Giuliana has pursued interdisciplinary research across microbiology, nanoparticles, and polymer science. Her doctoral research has been focused on developing polymeric surfaces with antimicrobial activity using nanostructured hybrid materials for both biomedical and industrial applications.

Research

In 2021, she initiated her postdoctoral project, funded by a fellowship from CONICET, aimed at contributing to the development of hydrogels based on polyelectrolytes with layered double hydroxide nanoparticles for biomedical applications.
Giuliana joined the POLYMAT group led by Dr. Thomas Schafer in 2024 to work on developing functionalized membranes integrated with DNA-based biocatalytic reactors
