Education

Gonzalo Guerrica-Echevarria earned his BS in Chemistry from the University of the Basque Country, Donostia-San Sebastian in 1993. He obtained his PhD in the same university in 2002. He worked for three years and a half in Lea-Artibai Ikastetxea teaching in "Polymer Engineering" for North London University and in November of 2002 started as Associate Professor at the Department of Polymers and Advanced Materials: Physics, Chemistry and Technology of the University of the Basque Country. He is also a member of the Research Institute for Polymer Materials (POLYMAT).

Research

Dr. Guerrica-Echevarria develops his research activity in the field of the processing-structure-properties relationship of thermoplastic materials, specifically in the field of polymer blends, including reactive processing, filled and reinforced polymers. He has experience in several polymer processing techniques (blending, extrusion, injection molding...), and also in the physical (DSC, DMTA, SEM,.) and mechanical (tensile, flexure, impact testing, ...) characterization of these materials.
He has published more than 30 papers in international peer reviewed journals (H-index: 12), about 30 contributions in national and international conferences and he has participated in more than 25 research projects funded by several institutions (UPV/EHU, Basque Government, MINECO, European Community).
