Education

Ainara Sangroniz Agudo earned her BS in Chemistry in 2014 and a MSc in Polymer and Chemistry in 2015, from the University of the Basque Country.

She earned her PhD (2020) in Chemistry under the supervision of Prof. Agustin Etxeberria and Prof. Marian Iriarte. The work of her thesis was focused on the development of sustainable polymeric materials for packaging applications. During the PhD she did an internship at Colorado State University under the supervision of Prof. E.Y.X. Chen and Prof. Haritz Sardon.

In 2021 she moved to Colorado State University to join Prof. Eugene Y.X. Chen´s group to work in the development of biobased circular polymers.

Honors and awards

2022 Postdoctoral Fellowship from the Basque Government (POSDOC)

2021 CAF-Elhuyar Award to the best article for general public based on the PhD thesis

2020 Dokberri grant from the University of the Basque Country

2018 PhD Internship grant from the Basque Government

2016 PhD grant from the Basque Government

2014 MSc grant from the University of the Basque Country

2013 Collaboration grant from the Basque Government

Research

Her main research interests are focused on the development of bio-based and circular polymers with intrinsic chemical recyclability and/or biodegradability for food packaging applications. She is interested in the structure-properties relationship for the development of high barrier polymer materials.

In 2022 she obtained the Basque Government Postdoctoral Fellowship and she is currently at Colorado State University working under the supervision of Prof. Eugene Y.X. Chen and Prof. Haritz Sardon.
