Education

After a technical chemistry high school, Daniele earned his B.Sc. in Chemical Science in 2011 and his M.Sc. in Chemistry in 2013 from the University of Pavia (Italy). Both experimental theses have been supervised by Prof. Paolo Quadrelli and were related to the synthesis of nucleoside derivates via Ruthenium oxidation and Diels-Alder reactions.

He obtained his Ph.D. in 2017 at the UPV/EHU (Spain) supervised by Prof. David Mecerreyes and Prof. Haritz Sardon, defending a thesis regarding PEDOT-derived materials for bioelectronics. He was awarded by the Royal Spanish Society of Chemistry the accessit prize for the best polymeric thesis in 2018 and he received the prize for a Young postdoctoral researcher in 2021. During the Ph.D. with a Global Training fellowship, he spent 6 months at IBM Almaden center in California (USA) working under the supervision of Prof. James Hedrick.

Research

After his PhD, Daniele carried out post-doctoral studies at the University of Warwick under the supervision of Prof. Andrew Dove and at the University of Bordeaux under the supervision of Prof. George Hadziioannou, thanks to an MSCA, where he was able to continue his passion in organic synthesis and conductive polymers. He come back to Spain with an MSCA within the start-up POLYKEY supervised by Dr. Andere Basterretxea and Prof. Maria Forsyth.

Since January 2023, he joined POLYMAT as a post-doctoral researcher, thanks to an Ikerbasque fellowship and a Ramon y Cajal fellowship, where he is currently working.
