Education

Ester Verde earned her BSc degree in Chemistry in 2004 at the University of Santiago de Compostela (Spain) where she also obtained her first MSc degree in Organic Chemistry in 2007.

During this time, she worked in the research group of Prof. Enrique Guitián, designing and synthesizing liquid crystals. In 2008, she joined the Institute of Polymer Science and Technology of Madrid (ICTP-CSIC) as a Research-Technician (JAE-TEC fellowship) for two years, where she earned her second MSc degree on High Specialization in Plastics and Rubber. In 2010, she started her PhD focused on Porous Organic Polymers as supports for Organocatalysts, supervised by Dr. Eva Maya and Prof. Félix Sánchez.

While working on her PhD, she also closely collaborated with the Prof. Avelino Corma (ITQ-CSIC) and Dr. Marta Iglesias (ICMM-CSIC). In 2014, she got her PhD and continued as a postdoctoral researcher at ICMM. In 2015, she moved at the Adolphe Merkle Institute in Fribourg (Switzerland) to work as a postdoctoral researcher under the supervision of Prof. Christoph Weder, developing new mechano-responsive polymers.

Research

Her current research topics are focused on the design and synthesis of monomers and polymers for sustainable processes.
