Education

Emiliano Meaurio obtained his BSc in Chemistry, specialisation in Physical Chemistry, in the Faculty of Sciences in Leioa (University of the Basque Country, UPV/EHU) in 1991. He completed his bachelor thesis next year and defended his PhD in 1996 in the same Faculty of the UPV/EHU. From 1997 to 2002 he was Professor of "Polymer Engineeering" in Lea-Artibai School (Markina, Bizkaia), where he was trained on injection moulding processing simulation using CMOLD, currently replaced by MOLDFLOW. From 2003 to 2019 he was a professor in the School of Engineering of Bilbao, and from 2019 he is full professor in the Department of Metallurgical Engineering and Materials Science of the Engineering School of Bilbao (UPV/EHU).

Research

His research has been focused on the investigation of polymer-polymer blends or blends of polymers with organic compounds with bioactive properties. More specifically, his research interests lie in the areas of biodegradable polymers, polymer-polymer miscibility, polymer-bioactive compound miscibility, analysis of the interactions in polymers blends, analysis of the crystalline structure of polymers using FTIR spectroscopy, and in the chemical modification of polymers. He has published about 50 papers and his h-index is 22
