Biopolymers for agrifood systems
Investigación
Conventional plastics in agriculture and food sectors contribute to pollution, resource depletion, and greenhouse gas emissions, making the need for sustainable alternatives urgent. Our research focuses on developing bio-based, biodegradable, and active biocomposite materials derived from sustainable biomass sources. We explore green processing methods to transform biomass into functional composite materials that reduce waste, improve soil health, enhance plant growth and resilience to stress, extend food shelf life, and foster overall sustainability in agrifood systems. Rooted in circular economy principles, we ensure the materials we develop are high-performing, eco-friendly, and designed for sustainable end-of-life solutions.
