Mª Soledad Orellano Receives Jané Mateu Foundation Grant
Dr. Mª Soledad Orellano, postdoctoral researcher at POLYMAT-EHU, has been selected as one of the recipients of the Jané Mateu Foundation Research Grants in the 4th edition of the programme. This recognition highlights the scientific excellence and innovative potential of her research in the field of health-related materials and biomedical applications.
The Jané Mateu Foundation grants support high-impact biomedical research projects aimed at improving patient care and quality of life. In its 2026 call, the Foundation increased the funding available and awarded grants of €10,000.
Launched in 2023, the programme has become an increasingly competitive initiative supporting innovative research led by scientists working at Spanish universities, research centres, and healthcare institutions. The grants seek to promote the generation of new scientific knowledge with a direct impact on healthcare and biomedical innovation.
Dr. Orellano, who joined POLYMAT after completing her PhD in Chemistry in Argentina and subsequent postdoctoral research on biomaterials and polymer-based systems, receives this distinction as recognition of the quality and relevance of her scientific work.
