Women Action Sustainability presents the "Circular Economy Guide: from strategy to action"

  • The document, which collects step by step the keys to integrating the circular economy into the core of SMEs, is the first work of the WAS Circular Economy Technical Committee.
  • During the event, the speakers have analyzed the keys to the path towards a more efficient, sustainable and responsible economic model.

On April 8, Women Action Sustainability (WAS) presented the “Circular Economy Guide: from strategy to action” in Madrid. The document collects step by step the keys to integrating the circular economy in the core of SMEs and is the first work of the Technical Committee of Circular Economy of WAS, an association of women managers that aims to promote the commitment of companies, institutions, entities and society with sustainability.

Idoia Azaldegui, General Manager of POLYMAT, participated in the preparation of the Guide and in the closing of the event presenting the main conclusions. The document, collects step by step the keys to integrate the circular economy in the nucleus of companies, is the first work of the Technical Committee of Circular Economy of WAS, made up of 14 professional women from various fields, who share a transformative vocation and a recognized track record in the development of circular economy strategies, publications and initiatives. For its preparation, the Committee has also had the Technical Assistance of Daniel Serón, Founding Partner of the consulting firm Suno Sustainability.

The presentation was attended by Mónica Chao, president of Women Action Sustainability, who stated that administrations, companies and institutions have to work hand in hand so that this change from a linear system towards the circular economy takes place. The Circular Economy Guide is the materialization of the objective of serving as inspiration and accompanying, also, the smallest companies in this direction at a key moment such as the one we are experiencing; Hugo Morán, Secretary of State for the Environment, has alluded to the need to advance in the implementation of a development and growth model that allows optimizing the use of available resources, materials, products and services, maintaining their value in all the economy for as long as possible, and in which waste generation is minimized.

Carles Navarro, General Director of BASF Española, Sponsor of the event, has indicated that they dedicate 2,000 million euros to R + D + i and that they materialize in transformative projects such as Chemcycling, chemical recycling with which they transform plastic waste that ended up in incinerators and landfills in raw materials for new productions.

The event was also attended by Jorge Barrero, General Director of the COTEC Foundation, Juan M. Rodríguez, representing the ICO's Sustainability Area; Rodolfo Gijón, Director of Sector Policies and Internationalization of CEPYME; Delia García, Director of Sustainability El Corte Inglés and Vocal Transformación WAS; Elena Blanco, Enagás Sustainability and Environment Manager and WAS Partner; Elena Ruiz, Coordinator of the Forética Circular Economy Action Group and WAS Partner; Clara Arpa, CEO Arpa Mobile Campaign Teams, President of the Spanish Network of the United Nations Global Compact and WAS Partner; Alba Cabañas, Director LabEcoinnova and Partner WAS; Adelaida Sacristán, Director of Studies and Knowledge Management Cotec Foundation and WAS Partner; Pilar Domingo, General Director of Superunion representing the WPP group.

 

All of them have wanted to highlight the role of the circular economy in the transition of companies and public administrations towards a new economic model with sustainability and social responsibility as the fundamental axis.
