POCTEFA TransBorder: Next-Generation Sustainable Solid Batteries
Transborder aims to develop a revolutionary and safe solid-state battery technology for sustainable electric mobility and stationary storage applications. Based on a high-energy-density lithium metal anode, the technology is enabled by bio-based solid polymer electrolytes with reduced flammability. Furthermore, it features a sustainable organic cathode composed of abundant elements, completely eliminating the need for critical raw materials to improve overall safety, durability, and performance.
Expected Results
The primary expected result of this project is the successful delivery and validation of the new solid-state battery technology. This includes the tangible integration of the lithium metal anode, the bio-based solid polymer electrolytes, and the sustainable organic cathode into a functional system that demonstrates improved safety and energy density without relying on critical raw materials.
Priority and Political Objective
Priority 1 (P1): Create a common space of knowledge and innovation, promoting digital transformation and sustainable growth.
Political Objective 1 (PO1): A smarter Europe.
Budget and Funding
Total Project Budget: €1,086,454.56
