On October 31st, 2025, Ainhoa Maiz Iginitz successfully defended her PhD thesis, “Integrated chemoenzymatic approaches for the design and transformation of enantiopure monomers into stereoregular PHA-like polyesters,” at the Chemistry Faculty Auditorium.

Supervised by Prof. Haritz Sardon Muguruza (POLYMAT) and Prof. Fernando Lopez Gallego (CIC Biomagune), Ainhoa’s work contributes to advancing sustainable polymer synthesis and expanding the potential of bio-based materials in polymer science.

Her thesis defense was evaluated by a distinguished committee composed of Prof. Maria Auxiliadora Prieto (CSIC) as President, Prof. Agustin Etxeberria (EHU) as Secretary, and Dr. Alessandro Pellis (University of Genoa) as Member.
