Prof. Aurelio Mateo-Alonso has been awarded with an ERC Consolidator Grant

The Ikerbasque Research Professor at POLYMAT has been recently awarded with the prestigious Consolidator Grant from the European Research Council. The 2 million euros grant will allow the researcher to develop his project e-sequence during the next five years.

The main goal of the project is the developement of a new methodology to prepare graphene nanowires that will be applied in new technogies such as electronics, photonics and energy conversion and storage.

This is the recognition to the promising scientific career of Aurelio Mateo-Alonso, who has already been awarded with several prizes that include the "Young Researchers Award" from University of Trieste (Italy, 2007), "Eugen-Graetz Award" from the University of Friburg (Germany, 2009), "Young Researchers Award" from the Spanish Royal Society of Chemistry (RSE, 2011) and the "Young Researchers Award" from the Nanocarbons Division of the American Electrochemistry Society (2012).
