Education

Dr. Nicolas Goujon earned his B.Sc in Chemistry from the University of Orléans in 2009 and his Master in Green Chemistry from the University of Savoy Mont Blanc in 2011.

During his Master studies, he received a visitor scholarship to spend 3 months as a research intern at Deakin University, Waurn Ponds, Australia, where he studied ecofriendly silk processing alternatives to generate silk based biomaterials using aprotic and protic ionic liquids.

He was awarded a PhD scholarship from Deakin University, where he developed nanostructured polymeric materials using polymerizable lyotropic liquid crystals for membrane applications. He graduated from his PhD in Materials Engineering in 2016.

Research

After his PhD, Nicolas carried out post-doctoral studies at Deakin University under the supervision of Prof. Maria Forsyth (April 2016- March 2019), where he worked on the development of polymer electrolytes based on polymerized ionic liquid block copolymers for high energy density lithium batteries.

Since May 2019, he joined the Innovative Polymers Group of POLYMAT as a post-doctoral researcher, where he is currently working on redox polymers for energy storage application.

During his research experience, he gained expertise in various polymer characterization techniques including DSC, TGA, FTIR, SEM, SAXS/WAXS, NMR (1D, 2D and Diffusion). He also has been awarded several merit-based synchrotron beamtime from the  SAXS/WAXS and FTIR microspectroscopy beamlines at the Australian Synchrotron.
