Education

Dr. Antonela Gallastegui obtained her B.Sc. in Chemistry from the National University of Rio Cuarto (Argentine) in 2014. During her B.Sc she obtained for two consecutive years a College National Scholarship of Scientific Vocations (CIN) for the synthesis by hotopolymerization of nano and macro-hydrogels as systems for controlled drug release.

In 2015 she made a 4-month placement under the supervision of Prof. Loic Lacroix in the École Nationale d´Ingénieurs de Tarbes (ENIT) in France. She worked on the research and development of ultramicroelectrodes.

In 2015 she obtained a PhD fellowship during 5 years in Chemistry Science, funded by the Argentinean National Council of Scientific and Technical Research (CONICET). She worked on the synthesis and characterization of hybrid materials as systems for controlled release/encapsulation; her thesis was directed by Prof. María Lorena Gómez and Prof. Rodrigo Palacios.

In 2017 and 2019 she made two internships at the University of the Basque Country (UPV), Spain, under the supervision of Prof. David Mecerreyes at POLYMAT. The second internship was carried out through a Marie Sklodowska-Curie RISE at the project "Ionbike: From new chemistry toward emerging applications". She worked on the synthesis of polymeric materials for energy storage.

Research

Since July 2020 she works as post-doctoral researcher in the Innovative Polymers Group at POLYMAT on the synthesis and characterization of polymeric materials for diverse technological applications.
