Position

Her current research is focused on the synthesis of single ion conducting hybrid block copolymer electrolytes for batteries, with the supervision of Dr. Irune Villaluenga.

Education

Marcela de Paula Ramos earned her BSc (2011) in Chemical Engineering from the University of São Paulo (POLI/USP) in Brazil. During her BSc she worked in the synthesis of perovskites for fuel cells anode at the Energetic and Nuclear Research Institute (IPEN) and the modelling and simulation of refinery effluent chemical equilibrium for Zero Liquid Discharge (ZLD) at the Laboratory of Process Simulation and Control (LSCP/PQI/USP).

She worked for 8,5 years as a Chemical Process Engineer in the production of LLDPE, HDPE and UHMWPE by slurry and gas phase polymerization at BRASKEM in Brazil, where she specialized in Petrochemical Engineering by BRASKEM/PETROBRAS and in Polymer Science and Processing by the Macromolecules Institute of the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (IMA/UFRJ).

In June 2022 she received a MSc in Chemistry from the University of Bordeaux (UBx) and a MSc in Chemistry and Polymers from the University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU) as part of the Double Master in Polymer Science Program (DMIPS). Both of her master dissertations were in the energy storage systems field. The first one focused in the research of redox-active ionic-electronic conducting polymers for battery electrodes, conducted in POLYMAT with the supervision of Dr. Nerea Casado and Prof. Dr. David Mecerreyes.  The second one was focused on the synthesis of conductive block copolymers to be used as binders in asymmetric supercapacitors, conducted in the Laboratory of Organic Polymer Chemistry (LCPO/UBx) with the supervision of Prof. Dr. Cyril Brochon.
