Education

Estibaliz Gonzalez de San Roman earned her BS in Chemistry (2007) from the University of Basque country (UPV-EHU) and BS in Biochemistry (2009) from the University Complutense de Madrid. She spent one year at Bergen University (Norway) as erasmus student, where she carried out a project on hybridomas under the supervision of prof. Dag Helland. She studied the MS in Pharmacology. Development, Evaluation and Rational use of Drugs in UPV-EHU. In 2014, she got her PhD also from the UPV-EHU under the supervision of Dr. Rafael Rodriguez-Puertas, the research of her thesis was focused on the study of the anatomical distribution of lipids in Alzheimer's diseased brain by MALDI-MSI (Imaging mass spectrometry). During the mentioned PhD, she spent 4 months at The Chun laboratory in The Scripps Research Center, La Jolla (USA) under the supervision of Prof. Jerold Chun.

In 2015, she got a postdoctoral researcher position at Central Institute for Engineering, Electronics and Analytics (ZEA-3), Jülich Forschungszentrum (Germany) to work with Dr. Pitter Huesgen.  She was working in the human brain research project, studying Multi-modal MSI to analyze the anatomical distribution of different molecules such as elements, lipids and peptides.

In 2017, she continue her postdoctoral research in Heinrich-Heine-Universität Düsseldorf, under the supervision of Prof. Katrin Amunts.

Research

Since April 2018, she is working as a research technician in Polymat and she is in charge of the characterization of polymers by MALDI TOF Autoflex mass spectrometer.
