Education

Garazi Larrañaga Jaurrieta studied Mechanical Engineering at the University of the Basque Country, where she later completed an MSc in Advanced Materials Engineering. In this master, for her final thesis she studied the degradation processes of polyesters in biomedical applications. After this, she began an MSc in Biomedical Engineering in which she performed her master thesis based on the application of 3D printing for osteoarthritic cartilage studies in the BioSmarTE group (Polymat) in collaboration with CICbiomaGUNE, under the supervision of Sandra Camarero-Espinosa and Ander Abarrategi. Upon completion, she will begin her PhD studies at Polymat.

Research

Garazi Larrañaga Jaurrieta completed her master thesis where she intended to generate 3D cartilage systems in order to study its interaction with the immune system in a pathological state such as osteoarthritis. In the same direction, for her PhD, the research project focuses on the development of 3D bioprinted scaffolds that promote the formation of a healthy functional connective tissue. Her main interests are centered on the role of biomaterials in regenerative medicine and the study of cell-biomaterial interactions.
