Nora Almandoz earned her Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry from the University of the Basque Country in September 2019, after presenting the Final Grade Thesis on the synthesis of pyrimidinone-based molecules with pharmaceutical activity, a 6-month project that was carried out at SANOFI (Frankfurt), under the supervision of Dr. Gernot Zech and Prof. Enrique Gomez. During her degree, she also worked on the synthesis of Photobase Generators (PBGs) for the photopolymerization of polyurethanes at POLYMAT (Donostia), under the supervision of Dr. Nicolas Zivic and Dr. Haritz Sardon, as well as on a project based on the MW assisted conversion of sugars into 5-HMF both in a batch and in a flow reactor. The latter was carried out during a 5-month Erasmus exchange at l'Université Colleges Leuven-Limburg (Leuven) and was supervised by Dr. Geert Dehaen and Joachim Hayen. In October of 2020, she obtained her Master's Degree in Chemistry and Polymers from the University of the Basque Country, obtaining a specialization in polymers.

Nora is currently a PhD student under the guidance of Dr. Haritz Sardon and Dr. Iñigo Calvo. Her research topic is focused on the synthesis and use of near-infrared activatable photoinitiators in the curing of adhesives for automotive applications.
