Position

Dr. Mónica Moreno is in charge of managing the research projects at POLYMAT as well as the outreach and dissemination activities of the Center.  Her duties include the project coordination, general communication, administration and reporting. Furthermore, she is in charge of catalysing the participation of the group in European-funded projects including the strategic planning, search for project partners and helping the researchers in proposal writing, submission, negotiation and reporting steps.

Education

Mónica Moreno earned her BS in Chemistry from the University of Salamanca in June 2008 and her MS in Applied Chemical and Polymeric Materials, from the University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU). She spent one academic year at Bristol University (United Kingdom) as an Erasmus student from September 2007 to June 2008. During this year she carried out a research project in the Soft Matter group under the supervision of Dr. Paddy Royall, investigating on colloidal hard-spheres crystallization.

She also carried out a summer secondment in 2007 at Inasmet-Tecnalia (Basque Country) in the materials characterization department.

She started her PhD in in 2008 at the Chemical Engineering Group (POLYMAT) in the University of the Basque Country under supervision of Dr. Monika Goikoetxea and Prof. Maria Jesus Barandiaran. Her research was focussed on the polymerization in aqueous media of monomers from renewable resources and more specifically of sunflower oil fatty acids for coating applications. To complement her research, he spent three months at Akzo Nobel (Slough, UK), researching on waterborne paints.
