Education

Irene Alonso Sampedro received her BSc in Chemistry in 2018 from University of Burgos and her MSC in Biomedical Research in 2019 from University of Valladolid. During her BS in Chemistry, she did synthesis and characterization of paramagnetic trinuclear metalorganic complexes. During her MSC in Biomedical Research and she studied and worked in the biosynthesis, production and characterization of recombinant elastin-based polymers with a possible capacity to form nanoparticle by self-assembly. This knowledge in elastin-like polymers was improved for two years more as a trainee student in a research group which is expert in this field.
She has joined Polymat for her PhD studies on October 2021, under the supervision of Prof. Ana Beloqui Elizazu and Prof. Aitor Larrañaga.

Research

Irene Alonso Sampedro is currently working on a PhD research project at the interface between the research groups of Prof. Ana Beloqui Elizazu (Responsive Polymer Therapeutics Group) and Prof. Aitor Larrañaga (Group in Science and Engineering of Polymeric Biomaterials).
The research project focuses on the development of chemo-enzymatic nanoreactors with advanced functionalities to induce specific responses on living cells with the aim of providing a therapeutic result.
