Education

Daniele Di Stefano earned his B. Sc. In Chemistry and Chemical Technologies (2016) and his M. Sc. In Chemical Sciences (2019) from the University of Genoa.

He participated in the European Project "BIODEST"- Grant Nº 778092, funded by the Marie Sklodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA) Research and Innovation Staff Exchange (RISE) H2020-MSCA-RISE-2017. He spent a six-month secondment in the "Ingeniería de Valorización de residuos (Ma+D)" company, San Sebastian, under the supervision of Prof. Jalel Labidi.

Research

During the bachelor thesis he worked on the synthesis of captodative olefins by photo-induced multicomponent reaction under the supervision of Prof. Andrea Basso.

During the master thesis he worked on the synthesis of nitrogen fluorescent heterocycles via multicomponent reaction followed by cascade process palladium catalysed and MW inducted. The project is in collaboration with the Heinrich Heine University (Dusseldorf, Germany) and the IIT (Italian Institute of Technology) and under the supervision of Prof. Renata Riva.

During his secondment, the main focus was the chemical obtainment of building blocks with high added value from lignocellulosic biomass materials. In particular, the focus was the obtainment of lactic acid (LA) and other possible monomers of bioplastics.
